Dear UBC Gaming Expo Attendee,
I hope this note finds you well, and that you’re looking forward to attending UBC Gaming Expo 2023! Here, you’ll find some important information about UBC Gaming Expo that will help make your experience fun, safe, and memorable.
In order to enter the UBC Gaming Expo venue itself, attendees are required to have a badge, which can be picked up at the check-in desk just outside the Great Hall. Check-in starts around 11:00 in the Great Hall Foyer located on the second floor, and will be available throughout the event if you plan on arriving later. Please ensure to bring a valid piece of ID to complete check-in, and have your badge visible at all times so that staff may assist you accordingly.
A rough floor plan of the event is pictured on the website. Please feel free to jump between rooms and be sure to check out the game activities, showcases, and Smash (on the floor above!) happening outside of the Great Hall! Washrooms are also indicated in the map below. There are four elevators in the building. You can refer to the full building floor plan to plan your arrival at the venue.
EVENT POLICY (CODE OF CONDUCT, PETS, COSPLAY ETC.)
Please take the time to read through our UBC Gaming Expo Event Policy document before attending the event. By picking up your badge and checking into the event, you are agreeing to follow the policies listed in the document. The document goes into detail with regard to photography, pets, cosplay, and more. The full UBC Gaming Expo Event Policy document can be found here (and is also linked on our website).
For the safety of all of our guests, staff, and VIPs, we are highly, highly encouraging masking at UBC Gaming Expo.
If you have a mask (cloth or preferrably medical/KN94/N95), we encourage you to bring and wear it for the duration of the event. Staff will also have spare masks located at the check-in desk for those who forget to bring their own or lose theirs at the event. Hand sanitizer will be available and bathrooms are located nearby; we encourage attendees to sanitize and wash their hands often. Though we understand that it may be difficult, we also encourage guests to socially distance where possible. As a reminder, if you’re feeling unwell or are exhibiting signs of any sickness, we kindly ask that you stay home for the wellbeing of other attendees and yourself.
HAVE FUN & BE KIND
Lastly, we ask for kindness as we adapt to running our first in-person Gaming Expo in three years! Please be courteous to staff and other attendees as we all do our best to have an enjoyable day. Have fun, and be kind to each other!
If you have any other questions about UBC Gaming Expo, feel free to hop into our Discord and connect with event staff or other attendees. See you on Saturday!
